Every day, Natascha Hebell-Fernando, L.Ac. applies the proven principles of Oriental Medicine – acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and nutrition – to help people live better lives by relieving pain, increasing energy, reducing stress and balancing hormones, so that they in turn can lead more productive and fulfilling lives.
Growing up surrounded by her grandfather’s and uncles medical clinics, she had been fascinated with causes and treatment of diseases since an early age. She is a molecular biologist by training and obtained her doctorate in Biological Sciences from the University of Padova (Italy) and participated in various comparative DNA sequencing projects sponsored by the European Community. She is also well versed in business development, as she holds an international MBA from the University of Clemson, SC and enjoyed working in the fields of technology commercialization, helping scientific discoveries being developed into profitable business concepts.
Eventually, she chose to pursue a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture, because it paved a way to address the root causes of acute and chronic health issues. Awarded the Certificate of Academic Excellency, she completed all national board exams before graduation and continues to exceed her yearly required Continuing Education Units, on her quest to provide ever more effective care for her patients. She is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine as a Diplomat in Oriental Medicine with the double certification in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. She practices the Global Balance Method in acupuncture, which requires a deep understanding of the organs meridian network and proper palpation. Often she recommends nutritional intervention, believing that with a solid nutritional foundation our bodies can heal themselves. Chinese herbal remedies are often reserved for acute and/or severe conditions.
