At Red Mountain Acupuncture, our ultimate goal is to get our patients well and make sure that they stay healthy. Oriental Medicine comprises several disciplines; however we focus on the following areas:
- Chinese Herbal Medicine
- Nutritional & Lifestyle Guidance
Your first appointment starts with an extensive conversation about your past and current medical history, existing conditions and lifestyle. The pulses on both your wrists will be carefully examined. There are 12 pulse positions on each wrist and each position corresponds to a specific meridian and organ. Your tongue reflects the general health of your organs and will be checked for color, shape, cracks and coating.
We also perform digital meridian imaging, which allows us to provide our patients with a unique “P.I.E.” or Personalized Integrated Energetics chart. In addition to the traditional tongue and pulse analysis, this is an objective way to assess your overall health. At every visit, we will track your progress and provide you with a comprehensive report.
During your initial treatment series, you will receive a questionnaire addressing a comprehensive list of signs and symptoms. This helps us create recommendations for personalized nutritional, herbal and lifestyle strategies to help you achieve your optimal state of health.
To come to a proper diagnosis, it is important that the practitioner gets a complete picture of your health and way of life. Instead of focusing on the symptoms of your condition, Oriental Medicine treats the causes of your condition by evaluating the whole person.
Expect an initial acupuncture treatment series (6-12 visits) over the first few weeks: we are working with your body’s natural healing abilities and it will be your body telling you the frequency of treatments needed to recover.
Occasionally, other modalities of Oriental Medicine may be part of your treatment as well: moxibustion, cupping or gwa sha. Read more about these modalities here.
